Russia seeks energy talks with Pakistan: In connection with Shafqat Ali Khan’s departure from his post as Pakistan’s envoy to Russia, Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov met with him.

The Russian minister praised Shafqat Ali Khan for their successful energy-related collaboration as well as the work they had done as part of the Nikolai Shulginov-cochaired Russian-Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission.

Nikolai Shulginov stated, “Over the years of our joint work, we have achieved a great deal, largely due to your profound understanding of the nuances of Russian-Pakistani cooperation.” We anticipate a continued productive energy dialogue between Russia and Pakistan.”

The two sides also discussed key issues of the current bilateral energy cooperation. In particular, the Russian minister noted that it was necessary to accelerate the creation of a working group for the preparation and further implementation of a comprehensive plan for the development of the gas industry in Pakistan.

Nikolay Shulginov further stressed that Russia expressed interest in conducting multilateral negotiations involving the Pakistani side to address issues concerning the international transport corridor.
