A stealth-capable US fighter jet vanished on Sunday, but it wasn’t from spying eyes; it was from the American military. This odd disappearance led to a request for the public’s assistance in finding the missing multimillion-dollar aircraft.
US military asks help finding lost jet: A pilot of an F-35 jumped from the plane on Sunday afternoon in the southern state of South Carolina following what the authorities described as a “mishap.”
When the military couldn’t locate the jet, Joint Base Charleston sought assistance from the neighborhood, leaving the pilot alive but presenting the military with a costly problem.
The base posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, asking for assistance in locating the F-35 if anyone had any information. “If you have any information that may help our recovery teams locate the F-35, please call the Base Defence Operations Centre,” it stated.
According to base authorities, they were conducting a search over two lakes to the north of Charleston in collaboration with federal aviation authorities.
Each of the aircraft, made by Lockheed Martin, cost about $80 million.
