Pakistan on Monday refuted the Intercept news report that claimed Pakistan sold weaponry to Ukraine in exchange for an International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout package.

FO rejects allegations selling weapons to Ukraine: Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the most recent Intercept piece as being untrue and manufactured in response to media questions.

She declared: “Pakistan and the IMF successfully negotiated the IMF Standby Arrangement for Pakistan to carry out challenging but necessary economic reforms. It would be dishonest to give these conversations any other hue.

“Pakistan upholds a strong neutrality policy in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and, in that regard, does not give them any weapons or ammunition. Strict end-user specifications are usually included with Pakistan’s defence exports, she continued.

It is important to note that following the signing of the staff-level agreement, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) granted a $3 billion loan for Pakistan. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board gave its approval for the loan.

Additionally, An official announcement instructs the International Monetary Fund to immediately distribute $1.2 billion, with the remaining $1.8 billion to be distribut in two installments in November and February after reviewing policies.

The IMF executive board emphasized that Pakistan must closely adhere to the measures agreed upon in the IMF agreement and must also meet the targets outlined in the budget.
