On the eve of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi in New York on Tuesday.
PM Kakar meets Iranian President: PM Kakar emphasised Pakistan’s steadfast determination to further bolster and expand relations with Iran during the meeting, particularly in the area of business.
He also emphasised how closely the two neighbouring nations are related to one another.
The prime minister emphasised that initiatives, like the recently opened Mand-Pishin border marketplace, will not only help the border regions economically but also serve as a physical representation of the shared resolve to strive for the advancement of the two countries.
The Prime Minister emphasised the significance for both countries to capitalise on their special geographic location to promote shared objectives of regional peace and prosperity, through increased trade and enhanced regional connectivity. He noted that President Raisi’s policy of “Neighbourhood First” was fully aligned with Pakistan’s vision for regional development and connectivity.
In order to represent Pakistan at the 78th UNGA session, the acting prime minister is currently in New York.
On the sidelines of the debate, the acting prime minister will meet with world leaders.
The Prime Minister’s Office has announced that PM Kakar would speak on September 22 at the UNGA’s 78th session in New York.
In addition to this, he will go to a significant climate change meeting.
Additionally, it’s expect that the interim PM will engage with US think tanks as well as international media.
The caretaker premier took part in a High Level Meeting on Global Development Initiative (GDI) Cooperation Outcomes earlier in the day. On September 20, 2022, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forth the GDI.
