Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, arrived in Canada late on Thursday night after flying there from the United States to drum up support for his nation as it battles the Russian invasion.
Zelensky arrives in Canada on visit: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau greeted Zelensky, who had arrived from Washington for his first visit to Canada since the war began in February 2022, as soon as he disembarked from the plane in Ottawa, as shown on Canadian television.
Zelensky met with President Joe Biden and members of Congress in Washington.
The Ukrainian diaspora in Canada is sizable, and the Trudeau administration has vowed to provide Ukraine with unwavering assistance while it fights Russian soldiers. Zelensky will speak to the Canadian parliament and have formal discussions with Trudeau on Friday.
Along with Trudeau, he will visit Toronto to meet with business executives and Canadians of Ukrainian descent.
