The appointment of Dr. Amjad Saqib as the Chairman of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) received the president’s approval on Friday. Dr. Arif Alvi.
Amjad Saqib appointed chairman BISP: The President’s Office made the appointment in compliance with Section 5(3) of the Benazir Income Support Programme Act 2010, according to the President’s Office.
Last year, Dr. Amjad Saqib, the creator of the microfinance project Akhuwat, received a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for his humanitarian efforts to combat poverty. He was among the 343 individuals nominated for this prestigious award from all around the world.
Global Men Magazine honored Dr. Amjad earlier this year as the “Global Man of the Decade” for his outstanding efforts.
Dr. Amjad Saqib received the Ramon Magsaysay Award 2021, also known as the Asian Nobel Prize, in August 2021. The award recognized his “first-of-its-kind” interest- and collateral-free microfinance scheme that has aided millions of low-income households.
