Foreign minister Jilani denies meeting with Israeli minister

Eli Cohen, the Israeli foreign minister, has not lately met with Pakistani authorities, according to foreign minister Jalil Abbas Jilani.

Jilani denies meeting with Israeli minister: According to News, he declared that when determining how to build relations with Israel, Pakistan would take into account the interests of both its own citizens and the Palestinians.

A day earlier, the Israeli minister had claimed to have met representatives from Muslim countries with which Israel has no official connections.

Once Saudi Arabia joins the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan, Cohen claims that six or seven Islamic countries will ratify the Abraham Accords.

Earlier, as Iran, a common enemy, accused the kingdom of betraying the Palestinians through the US-led initiative, Saudi Arabia and Israel expressed hope that they were getting closer to a historic normalisation of relations.

Israel is “on the cusp” of normalising relations with Saudi Arabia, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Palestinians shouldn’t have a “veto” over the decision.

Netanyahu claimed in his speech to the General Assembly in New York that agreements to forge formal connections with three more Arab states in 2020 had already “heralded the dawn of a new age of peace.”

But I think that a historic peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia is just around the corner, which would be an even more significant development.

“US President Biden’s Hopes for a Diplomatic Success: Saudi Arabia and Israel’s Recognition”

By getting Saudi Arabia, the protector of Islam’s two holiest sites, to recognise the Jewish state, US President Joe Biden hopes to alter the Middle East and win a diplomatic success during election season.

Biden joked that he had “Irish optimism” about reaching an agreement with Saudi Arabia when he met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York on the margins of the UN General Assembly.

After making peace with its neighbours Egypt and Jordan, Israel normalised relations with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Morocco in 2020. This was the first time in decades that Israel had done so with the Arab world.
