A 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Nepal and New Delhi. The earthquake’s depth was estimated by India’s National Centre for Seismology to be 5 kilometres, with Nepal serving as its epicentre. However, the Solar System Geometry Survey estimated the earthquake’s magnitude and depth to be 5.7 and 7km, respectively.
Earthquake Strikes India and Nepal: According to The Hindustan Times, the second earthquake sparked widespread panic and forced many people to leave their houses. According to reports, Nepal witnessed two earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.6 and 6.2 within a 25-minute span at 2:25 and 2:50, respectively. Numerous other places, including Lucknow, Hapur, Amroha, and portions of Uttarakhand in the state of Uttar Pradesh, also experienced tremors.
For safety considerations, Delhi police recommended the public to avoid using lifts and to vacate buildings. It’s interesting to note that the Solar System Geometry Survey in the Netherlands had predicted an important earthquake along the Chaman fault line in Balochistan the day before. Seismologists and geologists among other scientific authorities, however, rejected this prognosis.
