Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s top javelin thrower, will not compete at the Asian Games because of a knee ailment, POA officials announced on Tuesday.
Arshad Nadeem out Asian Games 2023: After the first session in Hangzhou, Arshad reportedly complained of knee pain in a statement issued by POA.
“Mr. Arshad Nadeem revealed and complained to Dr. Asad Abbas, who was accompanying him on the trip, that he has been dealing with persistent pain for several months, a concern that has become particularly pressing in the wake of the World Athletics Championship,” the statement highlighted. “After arrival at Hangzhou at the first training session on 27th September 2023.
“On October 2nd, he once more complained of right knee soreness and expressed a desire to undergo an evaluation to assess how it might impact his ability to compete in the javelin throw event. The Pakistani contingent’s chief medical officer recommended a thorough examination.”
According to the statement, the javelin thrower opted not to compete in the Asian Games after consulting with medical professionals in order to avoid any unfavourable circumstances that would interfere with his training schedule and ability to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
