FIFA, the organisation that oversees international football, on Monday, Saudi Arabia claimed it has completed the second step in its bid for the 2034 World Cup.
Saudi submits letter to host 2034 World Cup: “Last week we announced our ambitions to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, and this official submission continues our journey to make the dreams of our people a reality,” Yasser Al Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation SAFF, said in a statement.
“I will present the most compelling proposal that contributes to the globalization of football,” he stated.
According to SAFF, “over 70 FIFA Member Associations from across different continents have publicly pledged their support for the Kingdom” since they announced their intention to bid for the competition on Wednesday.
FIFA announced Morocco, Spain, and Portugal as the hosts of the 2030 World Cup last week. To celebrate the tournament’s 100th anniversary, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will host the opening matches.
