Imran Khan’s requests to have the trial court proceedings against him indicted and to have his trial in the cypher case suspended were combined on Thursday by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

IHC clubs together two of Imran pleas: The hearing was presided over by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq today. He combined a separate petition asking for the former prime minister’s cypher case trial to be suspended with the main plea.

Imran has asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed in the main argument.

Senior attorney Sardar Latif Khosa appeared as the former prime minister’s attorney during the proceedings and stated that the IHC was still considering the petition and that a decision had been reserved.

Imran filed a motion with the high court on Wednesday to contest the special court’s decision to indict him in the cypher case.

Imran filed a motion with the court through his attorney Sher Afzal Marwat, naming as respondents the state, the judge of the special court, and Secretary of the Interior Yousaf Naseem Khokhar.

Additionally, Marwat stated in the petition that the petitioner expressed dissatisfaction with the proceedings and order issued by respondent No. 02 on October 9, 2023. However, The reason for this dissatisfaction was that, on that date, the proceedings were conducted in an unusual and inappropriate manner. Furthermore, the impugned order, among other things, held that the proceeding for the supply of copies could not be postponed because writ petition No. 2656/2023 is still pending in the High Court.

The petition was filed at the same time as the special court stated it will charge Imran and Qureshi in the cypher case on October 17.
