The IHC made the ruling public today, preventing Sharif’s detention upon his return to the nation on Saturday, October 21.
In the Toshakhana case, the court suspends the warrant
An accountability court had earlier in the day suspended Nawaz Sharif’s Toshakhana case perpetual warrant.
According to a plea, the court put a hold on the arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana case until October 24. The court declared that if he doesn’t show up in court on October 24, they will reinstate the warrant.
Judge Mohammad Bashir delivered a reserved decision.
The NAB prosecutor did not oppose the petition challenging the former prime minister’s arrest warrant in the Toshakhana reference during the court session presided over by Judge Mohammad Bashir in the accountability court.
Convictions
In the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases, accountability courts found Nawaz Sharif guilty.
Nawaz Sharif received a 10-year prison sentence in the Avenfield case, along with an eight-million-pound fine, and a 7-year sentence in the Al-Azizia case from the accountability court.
Sharif had also been disqualified by the court for having served in public office for ten years.
But January 2019, the Lahore High Court (LHC) stayed his sentence in the Al-Azizia reference due to his ill condition. Due to his health, he was grant permission to fly to London.
