The MTV Europe Music Awards in Paris to cancel the event. They cited “the volatility of world events” as the reason for the cancellation on Thursday.

MTV Europe Music Awards cancelled: “The award show, featuring nominees like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny, and the Foo Fighters, was scheduled to occur on November 5 at Paris Nord Villepinte, and it was planned to be broadcast live.”

A spokesperson issued a statement saying, “Given the volatility of global events, we have decided not to proceed with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of staff members, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from all over the world to bring the show to life.”

“Each year, the MTV EMAs honour the best in world music. This does not feel like a time for a worldwide celebration as we watch the tragic events in Israel and Gaza continue to take place. It is a time of sadness with thousands of lives already lost. In November 2024, we’re excited to host the MTV EMAs once more.

Following the bloodiest attack in its 75-year history, Israel vowed to destroy Hamas, imposed a complete closure on the 2.3 million residents of the Gaza Strip, and bombarded the enclave with strikes that left tens of thousands dead and more than a million displaced.

Following the death of a schoolteacher on October 13 in an alleged Islamist attack, France is in the highest state of alert.

“Security Alarms, MTV Europe Music Awards, and Notable Nominations in Entertainment and Music”

According to the DGAC aviation authority, eight French airports had security alarms on Wednesday, some were evacuated for inspections, and the Palace of Versailles once more closed owing to its third security worry in five days.

Every year, a different city hosts the MTV Europe Music Awards. The event from the previous year took place in western German Duesseldorf.

With seven nominations, Swift had the most this year. These included nods for best artist, best song, and best video for her popular single “Anti-Hero.”

The K-pop group BTS member Jung Kook, who was also scheduled to perform at the event, was among the other nominees.

The last time the ceremony was held in Paris was in 1995.
