Seven policemen sustained injuries during an Terrorist attack by members of a banned militant group on a police checkpoint in the early hours of Wednesday in Punjab’s Taunsa Sharif district
As per a spokesperson from the Punjab Police, militants launched terrorist attack on the Jhangi checkpoint Taunsa, police team successfully repelled it. This marked the second attack on the checkpoint within a two-month period.
Approximately 20 armed terrorists attacked the checkpoint with grenades, rocket launchers, and laser-light guns, aiming to overrun it and capture the deployed policemen. Despite attacking from different directions under cover of darkness, they eventually retreated due to running out of ammunition.
Law enforcement agencies swiftly responded to the assault, cordoning off the area and initiating a search operation to apprehend the terrorists.
The seven injured policemen, including ASI Imran and constables Muhammad Amir, Asif Zain, Rehmatullah, and Elite constables Tariq and Shahid Manzoor, were promptly taken to Taunsa Sharif THQ hospital for medical treatment.
Punjab Police Chief Dr. Usman Anwar praised the police team for their bravery in confronting the terrorists, affirming that the Punjab police would not allow terrorists to succeed in their malicious intentions.
Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz condemned the attack and instructed to provide the injured officials with the best medical care. She lauded the police for their resolute fight against terrorism, expressing the nation’s unwavering determination to eradicate it.
