ISLAMABAD: During the federal cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif launched a stinging attack on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asking who brought terrorists back to Pakistan.

His comments follow the horrifying suicide explosion inside a mosque in Peshawar’s Police Lines neighbourhood, which has already claimed over 100 lives and is now one of the deadliest terrorism-related occurrences in the nation’s history with a death toll that exceeds triple digits, according to research.

In a policy statement, PM Shehbaz also questioned how monies given by the federal government to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to build its counterterrorism capacities over the previous ten years were used.

The premier stated that since 2010, KP has received funding from the government via NFC awards totaling Rs417 billion.

The speaker questioned the use of “huge amount” after PTI had been in power in the province for ten years. He asked where it had been used.

“It is reported that whereas they received Rs40 billion annually, we received none. God knows where this money went, but it was intended to be utilised to bolster the police and security forces “The PM spoke up.

The premier stated that no other province received as much money as KP. He also claimed that KP was under the control of terrorists for the past ten years.

According to PM Shehbaz, the plague of terrorism is once again on the rise. He stated: “Who brought these terrorists back, one wonders? How was Pakistan’s tranquilly once more disturbed? Who claimed that they were Pakistan’s friends? Who claimed that these guys had given up their weapons and will take part in the nation’s development?”

The prime minister warned that terrorism will spread in Pakistan if immediate action is not taken. He also pledged to end it through collective efforts.

PM Shehbaz Reflects on Country’s Tranquility after Anti-Terror Operations and Recognizes Sacrifices Made by KP Province

PM Shehbaz recalled how the country’s tranquilly was restored after the terrorist elements were defeated through the Radd-ul-Fasaad and Zarb-e-Azb operations. He claimed that individuals from all walks of life, including politicians, gave their lives in the fight against this threat. The resurgence of terrorist elements, he added, “is a source of concern.”

He was especially grateful for the sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this conflict, KP has continued to be our front line province, and its sacrifices will always be recognised, he said.
