Pervaiz Elahi, the president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was re-arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab in a corruption case shortly after the Lahore court released him in a case involving graft.
Pervaiz Elahi re-arrested after released: A day after being detained by agents of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) outside his home, a district court in Lahore today cleared PTI President Parvez Elahi in a corruption case.
Elahi was the target of anti-corruption cases filed in Gujranwala and Lahore, which were heard by Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza. In two corruption charges, Pervaiz Elahi was brought before the Lahore court, where the anti-graft agency requested a 14-day physical remand.
The Lahore court deemed the Elahi case to not be “well-founded” in accordance with the ruling, based on the ACE investigation and inquiry. The PTI leader’s “immediate release if not required in any other criminal case” was also mandated by the ruling.
The PTI leader was detained shortly after his release in connection with a Gujranwala corruption case that had been filed against him.
It is important to note that the PTI President was arrested on Thursday night in Lahore by members of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and a police team at his home, Zahoor Palace.
Despite the judge cancelling bail, the prominent politician did not show up. Since his bail was revoked, ACE and police officers conducted repeated raids on the PTI president’s home.
Elahi was detained in a corruption case involving Rs. 700 million, according to ACE officials.
It should be noted that two corruption cases against the former chief minister of Punjab have been filed in Gujranwala, and one case has been filed in Lahore.
