Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, has confirmed the sighting of the Zilhaj moon in Pakistan. As a result, Eidul Azha will be celebrated on June 29, 2023.

This confirmation was made on Monday evening after a meeting of the committee held at the main offices of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi. Maulana Azad informed that the sky was clear in most parts of the country, facilitating the sighting of the moon.

During the meeting, it was announced that testimonies of the Zilhaj moon being sighted had been received from several regions across the country, including Islamabad, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Khanpur, Ghotki, Karachi, Bahawalnagar, and Peshawar.

Considering these sightings, the committee unanimously decided that the first of Zilhaj would be observed on June 20, 2023, culminating in the celebration of Eidul Azha on June 29, 2023.

Simultaneous meetings of zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees were also held at their respective headquarters on the same day.

In the international scene, Saudi Arabia and Oman had previously announced their Eidul Azha celebrations to take place on June 28, a day earlier than Pakistan. This decision was made after the Zilhaj moon was sighted in these countries on Sunday.
