Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani Publishes Presidential Edict Enforcing NAB Legislation Revisions
Acting-President issues NAB law ordinance: Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani has officially published the presidential edict following allegations that the federal government intended to do so in order to change the statute governing the NAB (National Accountability Bureau).
The proposed NAB adjustments were enforced through the presidential edict in the late hours of Tuesday night after the Ministry of Law drafted a draught for it.
Sources have revealed that the federal cabinet has given its approval to the revisions made in the NAB legislation. These revisions grant the authority to extend the period of physical remand by up to 30 days. With this development, the government aims to enhance the investigative capabilities of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in tackling corruption and ensuring a thorough examination of cases. The purpose of the extended remand period is to give the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sufficient time to gather evidence and conduct comprehensive investigations.
Additionally, Under the new revisions, the acting President has promulgated the draught of the presidential ordinance, solidifying its enforcement. Further, The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will arrest individuals who refuse to cooperate with it, as per the updated regulations.
However, This move aims to strengthen the NAB’s authority in its pursuit of accountability and justice. Furthermore, The government, backed by the presidential edict, intends to hold accountable individuals involved in corrupt practices or hindering the NAB’s investigations for their actions.
