Anwaar-ul-Haq, the former senator and head of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), took the oath of office as Pakistan’s seventh caretaker prime minister on Monday in Islamabad.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar takes oath as prime minister: In the presence of the departing prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and his former cabinet members, President Arif Alvi swore Kakar in at the Aiwan-e-Sadar.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar received heartfelt congratulations from Shahbaz Sharif.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the interim prime minister, will govern the nation until the upcoming general elections.

Shehbaz Sharif, the outgoing prime minister, stated in his farewell speech to the country late Sunday, “I have confidence in the caretaker prime minister’s ability to conduct free and fair elections.”

Selecting a cabinet to govern the nation as it enters an election phase that might last months will be Kakar’s first order of business.

As per the constitution, the dissolution of the National Assembly last week was a result of the need to hold elections within 90 days.

For months, people have been speculating that the vote might be postponed.

Following the publication of the most recent census earlier this month, the election commission had to take time to redraft constituency lines in order to organize elections in accordance with the updated population count.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced on Saturday that Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar would serve as interim prime minister of Pakistan.

However, PM Shehbaz and opposition leader Raja Riaz sent a recommendation to President Alvi regarding the appointment of Kakar as interim prime minister.
