Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will take the oath of office as Pakistan’s acting prime minister on Monday (today).

Anwaar-ul-Haq take oath today: The interim prime minister will be sworn in by President Arif Alvi. After the swearing-in ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will welcome the interim PM. The new prime minister will receive a guard of honour.

Later, Shehbaz, the departing prime minister, will examine a guard of honour.

Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will provide guidance to the nation during the upcoming general elections.

Shehbaz Sharif, the outgoing prime minister, stated in his farewell speech to the country late Sunday, “I have confidence in the caretaker prime minister’s ability to conduct free and fair elections.”

Selecting a cabinet to govern the nation as it enters an election phase that might last months will be Kakar’s first order of business.

As per the constitution, the dissolution of the National Assembly last week has necessitated the holding of elections within 90 days.

Speculations about postponing the vote have been circulating for months.

Following the publication of the most recent census earlier this month, the election commission required time to redraw constituency lines for the purpose of organizing elections in alignment with the updated population count.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced on Saturday that Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar would serve as interim prime minister of Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz and opposition leader Raja Riaz forwarded a recommendation for the appointment of Kakar as interim prime minister to President Alvi.
