Army calls tightening law around May 9 planners: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) emphasized that while legal trials of perpetrators and instigators have commenced, it is crucial to also tighten the noose of law around the planners and masterminds who orchestrated the hate-fueled and politically motivated rebellion against the state and its institutions to fulfill their malicious agenda of causing chaos in the country.

The declaration followed the 81st Formation Commanders Conference held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, with General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), presiding over it.

Corps commanders, chief staff officers, and all army formation commanders were present during the meeting.

The top commanders firmly resolved that they would swiftly bring to justice those responsible for desecrating martyrs’ monuments, Jinnah House, and military installations. They emphasized that the perpetrators would be held accountable under the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secrets Act, which are derived from the Constitution of Pakistan. The commanders denounced the attacks that took place on May 9.

The commanders declared, “In this regard, attempts to create distortions and attempts to take refuge behind imaginary and mirage Human Rights Violations in order to create smoke screen for creating ugly faces of all involved, are absolutely futile and do not stand the abundantly collected irrefutable evidences.”

Additionally, they emphasized that they would deal with utmost firmness any attempts by any entity to create obstructions and hinder the definitive defeat of hostile forces.

Military leaders honour martyrs

The forum honoured the “supreme sacrifices” of the martyrs, including military personnel, members of the law enforcement community, and members of civil society, at the gathering. Furthermore, it provided Fateha for the martyrs.

The ISPR reported that the forum stated, “The state of Pakistan and Armed Forces will always hold martyrs (Shuhadas) and their families in the highest esteem and will continue to honor them and their sacrifices with the utmost respect and dignity.”

According to the military’s media wing, the briefing during the meeting covered the current environment, threats to internal and foreign security, and the army’s operational readiness in response to evolving traditional and non-traditional threats.

Furthermore, the briefing highlighted the addition of “structural changes and niche technologies” to the arsenal, aiming to improve operational preparedness and upgrade essential logistic infrastructure in accordance with emerging security imperatives.

The army chief assured the attendees that the Pakistan Army would continue to be dedicated to upholding the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He further stated that the events of May 25 “were a clear manifestation of same” and that the relationship between the people and the armed forces “would remain central” to their endeavours.

The forum stated that the purpose of making unfounded and baseless allegations on law enforcement agencies and security forces for custodial torture, human rights abuses, and stifling of political activities is to mislead the people and malign the armed forces in order to achieve trivial vested political interests.
