At least four terrorists were shot dead by security personnel on Wednesday during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Hoshab, Balochistan, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR stated in a statement that an IBO was started following a tip-off regarding the presence of terrorists to clear a hideout connected to shooting incidents on security forces near the M-8 motorway in Hoshab.

Following continual information, monitoring, and reconnaissance of the region, the location of the terrorists was discovered, and security troops were “heli-inserted” to apprehend the terrorists.

The ISPR reported that all four terrorists were killed during the ensuing fierce exchange of fire, and a cache of weapons and ammunition, including improvised explosive devices, was also found.

Terrorist activity has increased in Pakistan since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed to have broken the weak truce negotiated with the government.

Defense chief travels to Balochistan

The military’s media wing reported that on Tuesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir traveled to the Balochistan regions of Khuzdar and Basima where he was briefed on the security situation and the steps being taken to maintain a tranquil and secure environment.

During his interactions with troops, the COAS, according to the ISPR, emphasized the significance of keeping maximum operation readiness to counter hostile elements backed and financed by foreign powers from destabilizing Balochistan.

The COAS said, “We are aware of the cunning plans of Pakistan’s external foes to destabilise the hard-earned calm in Balochistan.
