Bangladesh needed 20 runs in the final over, however Arshad Iqbal, Pakistan’s most effective bowler, only allowed five runs in the previous over after dismissing Afif Hossain (20, 11b, 3x4s, 16).
Left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem dismissed the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh, Yasir Ali, on the next ball, despite having conceded 16 runs in the first four deliveries of the last over.
Rakibul Hasan scored a boundary on the final ball to assist his team win the bronze medal with the final four runs needed.
Further, Arshad was Pakistan’s most effective bowler, taking three wickets for 14 runs in just two overs.
Prior to that, on Friday’s second semi-final of the Men’s Cricket competition for the 2023 Asian Games, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan by four wickets.
