Officials in Punjab province postponed the release of the “Barbie” movie on Friday due to “objectionable content,” according to reports.

Barbie delayed in Punjab: In Pakistan, provincial boards must approve films before their release if they censor material believed to go against the social and cultural norms of the nation.

Farrukh Mahmood, the secretary of the Punjab Film Censor Board, informed AFP that they will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the movie and censor it if necessary.

He stated that they will approve the fantasy comedy, which stars Ryan Gosling as her love Ken and Margot Robbie as the well-known doll, for viewing after the inspection and filtering procedure is over.

The board didn’t explain why any particular content was “objectionable” or which content was.

The relevant censor boards passed muster with the movie, and they scheduled it to start playing on Friday in Sindh and the nation’s capital, Islamabad. However, Barbie fans in Pakistan’s most populous province will have to wait to see the movie.

“I had been eagerly anticipating watching ‘Barbie’ for weeks. According to Nousheen Saad, a citizen of Punjab’s capital city, it is absurd that Lahore may not screen the movie while Karachi or Islamabad does.

Prior to its release in US theatres today (Friday), the film had a number of premieres hosted throughout the world. It has been hailed as one of the biggest blockbusters of the season.
