Asif Ali Zardari, a former president of Pakistan, has emphasised the need to boost exports rather than attract foreign investors who will transfer their profits outside of the nation.

Boost exports instead of bringing foreign investors: The PPP co-chairman declared, “I do not believe in bringing foreign investors to the country,” during a discussion of the “Charter of Economy” at the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday in Lahore.

“They’ll steal your money and take it outside the nation. We are not making any money,” Zardari questioned, adding that it is their business to do it. If we are not making money, how will we spend it?

He made the claim that it is necessary to raise the export level to $200 billion.

He claimed that the government keeps taxing people who are already overtaxed. “We should first make people rich, and only then should we impose taxes.”

He believed that the government ought to support the private sector since it can make a big contribution to monetary stability.

According to the former president, the management of enterprises is not within the scope of elected officials, as their primary responsibility is to formulate policies for governing government activities. He affirmed that the private sector typically constructs infrastructure such as bridges and roads worldwide.

He further pointed out that a private corporation owns the buses operating in Karachi, as evidenced by the construction of bridges over the Indus River through public-private partnerships.

Additionally, He believes that the nation’s canal networks can be a significant source of energy production.

According to Zardari, PPP intends to generate 150 MW of energy from the canals in Sindh. “We want to use dams for the use of the agriculture sector,” he added.

He put forward the suggestion that Punjab could implement a similar model where the supply of generated electricity extends to both the villagers and the governing authorities.
