India’s cricket board announced on Monday that they have chosen fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah to captain the team for the three-match T20I series against Ireland after he recovered from a back injury.
Bumrah back in Indian squad: Bumrah, 29, underwent surgery in New Zealand in March but has remained sidelined since September.
The captain’s clear physical allows him to compete in the ODI World Cup in India in October.
The first of the three ODIs will take place on August 18 at Malahide in Dublin, with the subsequent games taking place there on August 20 and 23.
Additionally, India will be the next opponent in the Asia Cup, which Pakistan and Sri Lanka will co-host from August 30 to September 17.
These are their final tasks before India hosts the prestigious ODI World Cup beginning on October 5.
