Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, declared on Friday that he would do whatever it took to preserve Pakistan’s minorities and maintain the rule of law.
Caretaker PM ensure protection of minorities in Pakistan: On Friday in Islamabad, he was speaking at the inaugural meeting of the caretaker federal cabinet.
The Prime Minister expressed deep regret regarding the Jaranwala incident and affirmed that Pakistan is the collective heritage of diverse ethnicities and religions. He also mentioned that any extreme attitudes akin to the one displayed in Jaranwala will be unwelcome and addressed with severity.
He highlighted that discouraging rigidity, whether under the guise of religion or secularism, is a priority, and the authorities will not permit anyone to sow anarchy or instability throughout the nation.
The Prime Minister outlined the top priorities of the caretaker government and stated that in the current divisive climate, we will make an effort to distinguish between politics and the law and build a strong foundation for the country’s continued participation in its international and national obligations.
He continued by saying that we would continue to work on various development initiatives with the cooperation of all state agencies, particularly the Special Investment Facilitation Council, which aims to maximise the country’s natural riches, in the same spirit of continuity.
Severely denouncing the vandalism of government buildings, flags, and war hero memorials, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar referred to the events of May 9 in his statement.
He pledged to serve justice and handle those responsible for the attacks in accordance with the law.
However, The Prime Minister emphasized that the Kashmir conflict is a fundamental issue we cannot ignore, as it resides in our spirits and remains eternal for us.
