Virginie Viard, the creative director of Chanel, picked a quai on the right bank of the busy Seine River as the location for her autumn haute couture runway show. This choice added a breezy air to a casual and refined lineup.

Paris show: As tourists rode by on the city’s renowned bateaux mouches (tourist boats), models paraded over the cobblestones lining the river while wearing tweed suits trimmed with tulle tufts or adorned with flower designs in autumnal tones and waving to the audience.

With her brown hair let loose over her shoulders, long tweed cloak fastened at the waist, and gold-tipped heels, French model Caroline de Maigret opened the show.

Following were dressier designs including a sequined black dress and a skirt and jacket set in all gold, while more bohemian silhouettes featured a loose pink and orange shirt worn with a wide skirt in gold and black tweed.

One model was accompanied by a sleek black labrador, adding to the casual atmosphere, and other models carried flower baskets.

However, The jazzy backdrop gave way to the 1980s duet by Elton John and France Gall, “Donner pour donner,” as the performers moved in pairs and trios to close the performance.
