Cipher case: FIA submits challan against Imran khan and Qureshi

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) filed a challan on Saturday against Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the vice chairman, in the cypher case.

FIA submits challan against Imran and Qureshi: Imran and Qureshi were listed as having been found guilty in the case on the challan. It asked the court to hold their trial and impose a penalty on them.

The former PM allegedly possessed a copy of the cypher but did not return it, according to the FIA.

Last Monday, the Islamabad High Court instructed the FIA to file an application. This instruction was given if the FIA wants to keep the public out of Imran’s cypher case hearing.

On the prosecution’s request for the case to be heard behind closed doors, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq presided over a single bench and issued a two-page written ruling.

In order to protect “privileged” and “sensitive” papers and information, the FIA had asked the court for an in-camera session.

The cypher case in question concerns the alleged “misuse” of a diplomatic cipher’s contents, which former premier Imran used as evidence of a coup attempt while Qureshi served as foreign minister.

In connection with the case, Qureshi is detained in Adiala Jail while the PTI chairman is housed in Attock Jail.

Imran was ordered to be transferred from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail on September 5 by the IHC.

“The PTI Chairman’s sentence’s status has altered. The Adiala jail houses all Islamabad inmates awaiting trial, according to Chief Justice Farooq.

“What justifies the PTI Chairman’s continued detention in the Attock Jail? Why not at the jail in Adiala?

Additionally, he asked AAG Dogal for his opinion on moving Imran to Adiala Prison.
