President Zardari’s directives included urging Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to launch a comprehensive operation against street criminals in Karachi, dacoits in the Katcha area, and drug traffickers across the province, in collaboration with other provinces.
Additionally, President Zardari ordered actions against the drug mafia, curbing stolen goods trade, and expediting the completion of the Karachi Safe City project. These measures aimed to restore law and order, especially in Karachi, amidst a surge in violent street crimes. This directive emerged during a special meeting chaired by President Zardari at the CM House, attended by top federal and provincial officials, along with security institution representatives.
On one hand, Chief Minister Shah provided a detailed briefing on the province’s law and order situation. he highlighted improvements post-operation in riverine areas, as evidenced by recent high-profile visits and peaceful events.
On other hand, Sindh Rangers DG Major General Azhar Waqas reported a decrease in street crime cases. he highlighted key police initiatives like the operationalization of Shaheen Force and the restructuring of Madadgar 15.
Katcha operation
President Zardari emphasized police awareness of locations where stolen assets were traded and instructed strict action against such centers. Furthermore, Sindh IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon outlined measures, including establishing police check posts on the left bank of the Indus River, conducting small-scale operations against criminal gangs, and efforts to recover abducted individuals.
The president, furthermore, also underscored the urgency of completing development projects. These includes, Karachi Safe City and Northern Bypass fencing which can also address law and order challenges. Additionally, he called for enhanced security for Chinese citizens, zero tolerance for land grabbing, and cooperation between provinces.
