The case involving the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi under the Official Secrets Act was heard today (Monday) in Adiala Jail, and the special court resolved to indict the defendants on October 17.
Court indict Imran Qurishi on Oct 17: Details indicate that the cypher case was tried by Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain in Adiala Jail.
Along with the copy of the challan for the proceedings of the cypher case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team, attorney Salman Safdar, and special prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi are all present in court.
The daughter and son of former federal minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Zain Qureshi, have also arrived at Adiala Jail for the hearing.
Imran Khan, a former prime minister, and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a former foreign minister, were both brought into the hearing today in the courtroom set up at Adiala Jail.
During the court hearing, copies of the challan were given.
Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi stated during the hearing that he was unable to deliver copies of the entire case; nevertheless, the required documents have been given.
Later, the FIA team and FIA Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi departed. Later, the Adiala Jail Court’s judge, Abu Al-Hasanat Zulqarnain, also departed.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the Chairman of the PTI will be charged on October 17 according to a date set by the court.
The court has therefore postponed further proceedings in the case until October 17, when summons notices for every government witness will also be sent out along with the indictment.
It is important to know that only a select group of PTI attorneys were permitted access to Adiala Jail to hear the case against Chairman PTI.
