ECP evaluates election preparations for Punjab and KP

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) took into account preparations for the polls and by-elections for the Punjab and KP assemblies.

The ECP has finished making arrangements for voting locations, polling places, and voter lists, according to the session, which was presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The electoral body was preparing to hold elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it was announced to the session. In order to set the election date for Punjab and KP, the committee resolved to get in touch with the governors of the two provinces. Following a decision regarding the election day, the ECP decided to release the election schedule.

The purpose of the meeting was to expedite election preparations and the selection of presiding officers and other election officials.

Members of the electoral commission, provincial election commissioners, and representatives from all wings of the ECP all attended the meeting.

The administration and opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa nominated former bureaucrat Azam Khan as interim chief minister following the dissolution of the KP and Punjab parliament. The legislative panel in Punjab, which was made up of representatives from the government and the opposition, was unable to agree on a caretaker chief minister.

The ECP made the decision in accordance with protocol, and Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi was appointed as the caretaker chief minister of Punjab to oversee the transitional government in the province.
