In a case involving contempt of the commission, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued non-bailable warrants against Imran Khan, the supremo of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Fawad Chaudhry, a former PTI leader.

ECP issues warrants PTI Chairman and Fawad: The electoral watchdog brought contempt actions against the PTI chairman, Fawad, and Asad Umar because they made critical statements about the electoral commission and its top election commissioner. It is important to note this.

Nisar Durrani, an ECP Sindh member, presided over a four-person commission that heard the contempt case. Despite being summoned in person, Khan and Fawad did not appear before the electoral authority.

During the hearing, Asad Umar’s assistant attorney informed the panel that his client had other matters to attend to and had a medical appointment scheduled in the near future.

He begged the panel to excuse Asad Umar from the meeting, stating that he had been regularly present up to that point.

Additionally, Fawad Chaudhary and his attorney Faisal Chaudhary skipped the session.

While Faisal Chaudhary was requesting permission to attend the ECP hearing at the Islamabad High Court, Fawad’s assistant attorney mentioned that he was currently in Lahore.

As a result, the court granted non-bailable arrest warrants to Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, and Fawad Chaudhry, and postponed the hearing until July 25.
