Elon Musk removes X sign: SAN FRANCISCO, California – The organisation formerly known as Twitter took down a huge, blinking X from the top of its San Francisco offices on Monday after a dispute with local regulators about the sign. However, the bright flashing lights coming from the sign at night had caused locals to protest.
Some individuals voiced safety concerns, asserting that the sign, which loomed over the edge of the building, did not appear to have a firm securement to the roof.
The agency’s communications director, Patrick Hannan, told AFP that San Francisco’s Department of Building Inspection and City Planning received 24 complaints about the sign, including concerns about its “structural safety and illumination.”
Hannan reported that this morning, building inspectors saw the structure being disassemble. Hannan says the expense of the city’s investigation as well as the cost of licences to put up and take down the sign will be borne by the owner of the building where X is leasing space.
A building inspector followed up on a complaint and visited the tech company’s headquarters on Friday. However, as per the complaint submitted on a city website, the tech company did not permit him to check the sign on the roof.
