Aima Baig’s recently released song, Funkari, has drawn criticism from Pakistani musician Shiraz Uppal, who claims to have written and recorded the song.
Singer Shiraz calls out Aima for lying:. Following Baig’s assertion that she co-wrote the song with late vocalist Shakeel Sohail, Uppal responded.
In a note posted on her Instagram stories, Uppal claimed that Aima’s recent claim to Dawn Images that she and the late Shakeel Sohail wrote the song Funkari had been misquoted. She neglected to give Universal Music India, which was already acknowledged on her YouTube credits, the proper credit.
Funkari was “written, composed, and produced” by Uppal, he noted. According to Aima Baig Official’s YouTube page, Uppal wrote and composed Funkari, which is sung by Baig.
“Check your facts, madam. The last song Shakeel Sohail and I co-wrote together was “Faraq Farag,” another hit for you, which was written six months before he died away. Thus, Funkari was created by me, and you simply arrived to perform it, which only took three hours.
In an earlier interview with Dawn Images, Baig claimed that she and Shakeel Sohail had begun composing Funkari three years prior, during the holy month of Ramadan. Shakeel’s last song was the one.
Funkari was released on July 12. The wonderful song has now received more than 5 lakh views.
The lyrics of the song, according to its authors, capture the essence of longing and emptiness. These emotions are experienced when a loved one changes their values.
