President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany will hold an international conference on the restoration of Ukraine in 2019.
Germany host Ukraine reconstruction talks: Berlin will host the negotiations on June 11, 2024, the chancellery confirmed in a statement.
“In June, leaders and officials from more than 60 nations and financial organizations convened a summit in London to release funding for the nation’s post-Russian invasion reconstruction, making it the most recent summit of this kind.”
The conference’s goal is to assist Ukraine in maintaining its economy and, in the long run, in rebuilding its infrastructure.
On Wednesday, Scholz had a 30-minute meeting with the president of Ukraine outside the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to the chancellery, the conversations focused on the political, military, and humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
German backing for Kiev will continue, according to Scholz.
Zelensky said that he and Scholz “discussed the situation on the front lines and the priority needs of the defence forces of Ukraine” in a post on the messaging app Telegram.
“He continued to emphasize the preparation for the international conference on the restoration of Ukraine. The conference is scheduled to be held in Germany.”
