Google on Wednesday unveiled plans to give its virtual assistant generative artificial intelligence (AI) skills. A company executive told Reuters that the AI will enable the assistant to perform things like aid users in vacation planning or email catch-up, followed by follow-up inquiries.
Google combine AI chatbot: The Alphabet subsidiary announced during its hardware event in New York that it intends to include generative AI capabilities from its Bard chatbot into Google’s version of a virtual assistant, which promises to offer individualised assistance with reasoning and generative capabilities on mobile devices.
“In an interview with Reuters, Sissie Hsiao, Vice President of Google Assistant and Bard, explained that the concept is very powerful because a whole task is accomplish by asking a couple of simple questions to your assistant.”
Google and other tech firms are vying to include generative AI into their newest and existing products. This year, Meta Platforms, Amazon.com, and Microsoft have all increased their efforts.
According to Hsiao, the updated Google Assistant will be able to use the camera and microphone on a smartphone and allow users to contribute images or sounds to supplement its extensive language model. Because Google is still in the “learning phase” with generative AI, Hsiao stated that it will not include features that generate revenue.
The Google vice president said, “We want to understand how to make a fantastic experience out of this.
Google did not provide a specific release date for the new software, instead stating that it would be made “soon” available to its trusted tester programme. The business intends to make a version available for both iOS and Android.
