Governor signs order dissolving K-P Assembly

PESHAWAR: Just days after the Punjab Assembly was dissolved, Governor Haji Ghulam Ali signed the summary dissolving the provincial assembly on the recommendation of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

The governor gave Mahmood Khan instructions. The instruction was for him to remain in his position as acting chief minister. He should remain in this position until the interim administration takes over.

Additionally, Governor Ghulam Ali indicated his willingness to mediate between Mahmood Khan and the opposition leader.

According to Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the K-P CM had issued advice to the governor. He advised on Tuesday. It was asking for the dissolving of the provincial Assembly under Article 112(1) of the Constitution.

The process of consultation between the departing chief minister and the opposition leader for appointing an interim administration will begin with the dissolution of the legislature. According to sources, each faction was putting together a list of candidates for the caretaker chief minister.

Imran dissolved the Punjab Assembly on his orders and a few days later, dissolved the K-P Assembly. On November 26, after the Haqeeqi Azadi March, the PTI leader announced that he would dissolve the two provincial assemblies where the PTI was in charge.

Imran stated that the government would not be able to prevent general elections. He stated that if 66% of the country holds elections, they will occur. He made this statement after the dissolution of the assemblies.
