The implementation of a new tax on high-speed diesel (HSD) has reversed the reduction in the price of petrol and diesel.
Govt imposes tax on diesel: The caretaker administration added a new tax of Rs0.24 per litre on high-speed diesel in response to oil marketing companies’ (OMCs) and dealers’ margins, undoing the genuine reduction in petrol and diesel prices for the general public.
According to sources who spoke to News, the HSD is now subject to an additional 24 paisa per litre tax. They increased the OMC margin by Rs0.41 per litre and also raised dealers’ margin on petrol and diesel by Rs0.88 per litre.
In the past, Pakistan reduced the cost of petrol by Rs 40 per litre.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority announced that the price of fuel has decreased by 40 rupees per litre to reach Rs 283.38 per litre.
High-speed diesel (HSD) is now available for Rs 303.18 per litre, a reduction of Rs 15. Kerosene oil prices, meanwhile, decreased by Rs 22.43 per litre to Rs 214.85.
