The Sindh government chose to use the royalty money it received in exchange for Thar coal to give solar systems to the citizens of Thar.

Govt provides solar to Thar: Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, the provincial minister for energy, reportedly said that Thar inhabitants’ homes in Thar would get solar panels installed with the royalty money received in exchange for Thar Coal Block 2.

Under the direction of Sindh’s Energy Minister, the 15th Thar Foundation Board meeting covered specific exchanges for the provision of public utilities by the Thar Foundation.

The provincial minister for energy, Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, attributed the decision to outfit Thar people’s homes with solar systems to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. This action attempts to guarantee the population of Thar an uninterrupted supply of water and power.

Additionally, The conference revealed that the Thar Foundation, a subsidiary of The Citizens Foundation (TCF), has established 28 schools. Twenty-three of these schools are fully operating, and the foundation has initiated numerous programs to train new teachers.

Schools have sports facilities to give kids a healthy atmosphere, particularly for cricket. Regarding skill development, the Pakistan Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (PITHM) is working with us to offer training programs for hotel management, tourism, vocational training for women, and IT training.

The meeting’s participants said they are also planning to establish a mental health hospital. They further mentioned that financial assistance had been provided for relocating inhabitants from the Thar Coal Plant site.
