Hezbollah prepared for action against Israel: After hundreds of individuals poured across the border from Gaza into Israel on Saturday, killing more than 1,300 people, Naim Qassem, the deputy head of Hezbollah, spoke as Hamas and Israel continued to exchange heavy fire.
In retaliation, Israel bombed Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 1,800 people.
“We, as Hezbollah, are contributing to the confrontation and will (continue) to contribute to it within our vision and plan,” Qassem said during a pro-Palestinian protest in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
When the time comes for action, “We are fully prepared, and we will take it,” he declared.
The official rejected appeals for Hezbollah to remain out of the conflict, timed to the Iranian foreign minister’s visit to Beirut.
He added: “Hezbollah knows its duties.” He stated that efforts by “major countries, Arab countries, and envoys from the United Nations, directly and indirectly, asking us not to interfere in the battle, will not affect us.”
Israel and Hezbollah and affiliated Palestinian organisations in Lebanon have recently exchanged gunfire, but the exchange of blows has been rather brief.
More than a thousand Hezbollah supporters demonstrated in support of Gaza on Friday in the southern suburbs of Beirut while waving Palestinian flags and placards that said, “May God protect you.”
They chanted, “(Hassan) Nasrallah, strike Tel Aviv,” addressing the head of the Shia Muslim sect.

A Palestinian refugee named Najwa Ali, who was born in Beirut 57 years ago, participated in the solidarity march.
She told AFP, “I have never been to Palestine, but when I return, I will do so with my head held high and without an Israeli soldier telling me what to do or where to go.”
Israeli airstrikes on Monday killed three Hezbollah members, while Palestinian militants claimed they had prevented an infiltration attempt.
Israel claimed to have attacked Hezbollah observation stations on Tuesday, while Hamas’s armed branch claimed to have fired rockets.
Hezbollah said on Wednesday that it has attacked an Israeli outpost close to the Lebanese village of Dhayra. Israeli retaliatory fire resulted in three casualties.
