There isn’t a forensic lab in KP: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Moazzam Jah Ansari, has acknowledged a security breakdown that led to the suicide bombing at the Peshawar Police Lines.
During an appearance on the show “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,” he stated that the Police Lines have only one gate and that they were monitoring the surveillance footage minute by minute to determine how and when the suicide bomber entered the area.
According to Moazzam, unfortunately, Peshawar City lacks the Safe City Project, so they are requesting assistance from the security cameras deployed all over the place.
He claimed that the investigation was underway to determine how the putative bomber entered the location and delivered the explosives inside. He also claimed that the canteen, which has multiple civil servants, receives all items and commodities from outside. Additionally, construction work is ongoing.
He claimed that since Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lacked a facility for forensic science, they sent the suicide bomber’s body parts to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
In response to a question about the TTP reorganizing, the IGP said there was no organized presence of the outlawed terrorist group in the province, but its splinter groups, consisting of five to ten people, were present at various locations and they had no trouble traveling across international borders. He claimed that facilities for them existed beyond the border and that they had previously utilized these facilities.
