In the Murad Akbar recovery case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a personal summons to the DG Rangers and the IGP for Monday, June 5.

IHC calls DG Rangers and IGP: Shahzad Akbar, the former SAPM, disclosed that the recently ‘selected’ Shahzad Akbar is the brother of Murad Akbar, the former SAPM on accountability.

IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Naqvi Kiani took up the petition calling for the release of Shahzad Akbar’s brother. The court assigned the task to the defense ministry, instructing them to ensure that DG Rangers would appear for the subsequent case hearing.

If the authorities cannot locate “missing” Murad Akbar, I will call the interior minister and then the prime minister, the IHC justice said.

Kiani said that if the law-and-order situation in the surrounding 36 kilometers is significantly worse, it would be better for the administration to resign.

The IHC postponed the case’s subsequent hearing until June 5.

The police have imprisoned thousands of PTI employees and supporters for their alleged involvement in the violent unrest that followed the detention of the party chairman in Islamabad last month.
