IHC rejects Imran Khan’s petition against jail trial in cipher case

Imran Khan’s appeal against his incarceration in the cypher case was denied by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday. Imran Khan is the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

IHC rejects Imran Khan’s petition: The reserved decision was now announced by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. The high court rejected the plea and instructed the former prime minister to go before the special court.

According to the IHC’s ruling, Imran won the jail trial while keeping security-related considerations in mind.

The case in question involves the alleged “misuse” of a diplomatic cipher’s contents, which ex-premier Imran used as evidence of a coup attempt.

Imran was detained in the Attock Jail on August 5 as a result of his arrest in the Toshakhana case. Since then, he has been moved to the Adiala prison.

Imran and Shah Mahmood Qureshi were scheduled to be indicted in the cypher case by the special court on October 17.

However, In August, a complaint was filed against Imran and PTI leader Qureshi. The complaint was filed under Sections 5 and 9 of the Official Secrets Act of 1923.
