The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar in the case pertaining to vandalism and violence that occurred on May 9.

IHC stops police arresting Shah Mehmood and Asad Umar: The Tarnol police station opened a case in relation to the events of May 9. The court granted bail to seasoned lawmakers, halted the arrest of Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar, and sent a notice to the police requesting their records till July 10.

Additionally, the authorities required a bond of Rs. 0.1 million from each person in the pair.

In a lawsuit brought by the Islamabad police over the violent protests on May 9, the Peshawar High Court granted transit bail to former federal minister Asad Umar and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi till June 23.

Justice Waqar Ahmad of a one-member bench allowed the joint application for pre-arrest transit bail filed by the two former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members, thereby preventing the police from detaining PTI leaders until Friday.

Violent confrontations spread throughout Pakistan following the custody of the former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on May 9, as ordered by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
