Imaan Mazari gets bail in public properties damage case

One of the two instances for which Imaan Mazari is being detained was resolved. She won’t be released right away despite the bond.

Imaan Mazari gets bail: She was granted bail in an Islamabad district and sessions court after being charged with interfering with government affairs and vandalism in a case that was filed at the Tarnol police station.

On Tuesday, when Judicial Magistrate Waqas Ahmed heard the case, Mazair’s attorney informed the court that further inquiry had not turned up any significant evidence.

Mazari had not destroyed anything or mistreated anyone, the attorney continued.

The prosecutor, however, objected to her bail, claiming that she had misused public institutions.

The judge disregarded the concerns of the prosecutor and granted Mazari’s bail in exchange for surety bonds worth Rs30,000.

As part of a terrorism case, Mazari is now being held by police on a three-day remand. An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Monday approved the remand.

After giving a vehement speech at a Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement demonstration in the capital on Sunday, Mazari, the daughter of former human rights minister Shireen Mazari, was taken into custody at her home.

ALi Wazir of PTM was also detained on related charges. During a hearing, the ATC was informed that around 900 individuals had been connected to cases like these.
