In Islamabad, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted a three-day physical remand to Imaan Mazari, a human rights attorney, on Tuesday. The case revolves around the “collection of funds to support anti-state activities.”

Imaan Mazari gets physical remand: ATC Judge Abu Al-Hasanat Zul-Qarnain presided over the case involving Imaan Mazari, a human rights attorney.

According to the prosecution, Imaan is facing charges of “collecting funds to support anti-state activities.” Authorities detained her physically while they sought to locate the purported cash and apprehend additional suspected conspirators.

The defence attorney, Zainab Janjua, contended that there is no proof connecting the person who filed the case on August 26, 2023, with the defendant, Imaan Mazari.

“The defense attorney went on to say that if Imaan Mazari were released on bond from one case today, authorities would detain her in another case. The attorney argued that accused had never interacted with the complainant or accepted money from her.”

“ATC Judge Zulqarnain granted Imaan Mazari the opportunity to speak with both sides before handing her over to the police for a three-day physical remand.”

The prosecutor, on the other hand, emphasised that issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for protest would not authorise anybody to support anti-state ideas or actions, and he or she also stated that if the court accepted the accused’s remands, the authorities would gather evidence.

ATC Judge Zulqarnain allowed Imaan Mazari to speak with both sides before giving her into police custody for a three-day physical remand.

It is important to note that Imaan Mazari, a human rights attorney, was once more detained by the capital police after the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) released her on post-arrest bail in a case involving “interference in state affairs”.

The attorney was once again detained by Islamabad police officers outside Adiala Jail shortly after receiving release from the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC).

Please note that ATC Judge Abu Al-Hasanat Zul-Qarnain granted bail to Imaan Mazari in a sedition case in exchange for Rs 30,000 in surety bonds.
