Imran chooses not to run by-elections: Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reversed his prior plan to run in by-elections for 33 open National Assembly (NA) seats to avoid being disqualified in the Tyrian White case on Friday.

PTI chairman argued in the Islamabad High Court case that he couldn’t share information as he lacked public office. He made this contention before the IHC.

After Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf accepted the resignations, Imran ran for 33 NA seats until he withdrew. This was in the aftermath of the resignations.

After de-notifying the members, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released the schedule for the by-elections. According to the commission’s announcement, the by-elections will take place on March 19, 2023.
