Pakistani rupee increases: A day after the government implemented significant levies for the revival of the stalled IMF bailout package, the Pakistani rupee continued to appreciate against the US dollar on Thursday, increasing by 0.56 percent.
During interbank transactions, the local currency rose by Rs1.48 and reached 263.90, according to the report.
The local currency has risen in value versus the US dollar during the past few days. When compared to the US dollar, it had previously lost value by an astounding amount, reaching an all-time low of Rs280.
In a last-ditch effort to entice the international lender, the government has tabled the Finance (Supplementary) Bill, 2023, which adds taxes worth approximately Rs170 billion.
The coalition administration increased the cost of petrol, gas, and electricity in addition to levying taxes.
