Sunil Chhetri, a football player from India, made a startling comparison when he asserted that when it comes to representing the national team, he is superior to superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sunil Chhetri claims to better than Ronaldo and Messi: One of India’s most decorated players in history, Sunil Chhetri has been in charge of the national squad for more than ten years. Alongside Messi and Ronaldo, the striker is among the top 10 goal scorers in history.
Before asserting that he may be even better when playing for the national team, the famous Indian footballer refuted any comparisons to the other top goal scorers.
The last nine names on the list cannot be compared. Like a lot of other people, I am a fan of athletes like Ronaldo and Messi. Because there is just no comparison, I don’t take this list—or whatever it is—too seriously. But, absolutely, I can do even better than them when I’m serving my country,” Chhetri remarked.
“At the moment, there is no way to predict what will happen in international football, and underdogs can also succeed! In football, anything may happen at any time. I’m trying to convey to the rest of the squad that we must do our all in order to accomplish this,” he continued.
Sunil Chhetri led India to the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship championship earlier this month. He also concluded the tournament with the most goals, earning the Player of the Tournament award.
Sunil Chhetri expressed his gratitude for the help and inspiration he and the rest of the Indian squad had received during the competition.
“The support has been fantastic since day one (of the competition).” On the field, the supporters’ support and encouragement of us throughout the game was exceptional and magical. In addition, Lebanon and Kuwait, India’s opponents in the semifinals and finals, respectively, are not exactly SAFF teams. We welcomed them, and they are excellent sides. So it felt amazing to win these and similar tournaments.
